ADHD Assessments
Cassie offers ADHD assessments for children over 5 years old.
Diagnosing ADHD can be complex due to a range of conditions that can mimic ADHD (e.g. anxiety, depression, learning difficulties, giftedness). This is where a neuropsychological evaluation is very useful. A neuropsychological assessment can differentiate ADHD from these conditions, ensuring an accurate diagnosis, which is vital in developing an effective treatment plan.

A comprehensive ADHD assessment consists of 3 components:

-
Initial consult (1 hour) - here we will take a detailed history and discuss your concerns.

-
Cognitive assessment - Includes evaluation of IQ, various aspects of attention (e.g. selective, sustained, divided, auditory, visual), processing speed, executive function, learning, memory and possibly academic functioning (if there is potential learning difficulties). The assessment takes 3 hours and can be split into multiple sessions if needed. As part of this stage, we also gather collateral information from teachers and other health professionals, administer standardised behavioural ratings and screen for the presence of other related conditions.

-
The comprehensive (or summary) report will be written following your assessment and provided to the client 2 weeks post assessment. It is also recommended clients attend a feedback session (1 hour) to discuss the results and recommendations detailed in the report.
