Neuropsychological/Cognitive Assessment

A neuropsychology assessment is a comprehensive cognitive and behavioural evaluation that makes diagnostic and treatment recommendations based on data from multiple sources. The assessment will be tailored to the referral question.

The areas which can be assessed include:

  • Intellectual ability

  • Academic skills

  • Attention & processing speed

  • Learning and memory

  • Executive functioning e.g. planning, organisational skills, impulsivity, working memory

  • Adaptive behaviours

  • Language

  • Psychological state

  • Behaviour

  • Social skills

A neuropsychological/cognitive assessment consists of 3 components:

  • Initial consult (1 hour) - here we will take a detailed history and discuss your concerns.

  • A comprehensive assessment typically takes approximately 3-4 hours and can be split into multiple sessions if needed.

  • The comprehensive (or summary) report will be written following your assessment and provided to the client 2 weeks post assessment. It is also recommended clients attend a feedback session (1 hour) to discuss the results and recommendations detailed in the report.
